The Serpae Tetra (Hyphessobrycon eques) is a lively freshwater fish known for its vivid red-orange coloration and distinct black spot behind the gills. Originating from the rivers of South America, Serpae Tetras are active swimmers that thrive in groups of six or more.
They prefer slightly acidic, warm water and a planted environment with open space to explore. Their bold color contrasts beautifully with green plants and dark substrates.
Although generally peaceful, they can be mildly fin-nippy if kept in small groups — so maintaining a proper school helps minimize aggression. With the right care, they make a dynamic and eye-catching display in any aquarium.
